Contrary to popular belief, the oldest band in the world is not The Rolling Stones! The oldest band is the Golden Senior Trio from Japan, consisting of three active members aged 78, 81 and 89 years old, with an average age of 83 years and 19 days as of 5 July 2015. The three members are Naoteru Nabeshima (vibraphone, 89 years 52 days old), Zensho Otsuka (piano, 81 years 140 days old) and Naosuke Miyamoto (bass, 78 years 234 days old). Mall Music, Brookvale (NSW) presented another successful Weekend Warriors gig featuring 3 bands last weekend, coached by the effervescent Paul Christie. After a month of rehearsals, the bands played their hearts out, cheered on by friends and family. The event took place at Soul Central (formerly known as Lizottes) in Dee Why last Sunday afternoon. In June 2007, the Weekend Warriors Music Club SA and the Moorook District Club organised a three-day Moorook Blues Festival on the banks of the River Murray. It was so successful that it became an annual event. Now known as Riverstock, the festival features many Weekend Warrior bands, who come together with friends and family for an annual celebration of music.
