What is Recreational Music Making?

The revolution that is sweeping the globe. You may be already doing it!

Recreational Music Making (RMM) encompasses enjoyable, accessible and fulfilling music-based activities that unite people of all ages regardless of their challenges, backgrounds, ethnicity, ability or prior experience.

Billy Joel: “I think music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”

You do not have to be ‘successful’ professionally as a musician to get the most out of it. In fact, the hobbyist or amateur get the greatest highs and benefits in our opinion.

Recreational Music Making is about, achievement, health and vitality and the satisfaction that comes with participation and achievement. Above all it is about FUN. RMM is most often about group music participation.

It is not limited to the young or aged – it is for all! it is about lifting the human spirit.

RMM is about developing a creative outlet, where one can express themselves.  There are many programs out there that can be described as recreation music making.

The most accessible currently is the Weekend Warrior program aimed at mature aged adults either wanting to get back into making music after a time where work and family responsibilities curtailed their rock star dream or those who may have had their guitar under the bed for a long time and dream to get started playing again. The best way to make music is with other people.

Also coming soon is the Young Warriors Program, an under 19’s band program that not only gives young music students the chance to put their hard work into practice but also opens the doors to newcomers wanting to test the waters. If you want to get prepped on the music industry and experience working with other musicians in a team based environment, then Young Warriors is for you.
