Since arriving in Australia from Liverpool England at the age of Ten, Rons interest in Guitar playing has never wavered, infact over the years his thirst for more knowledge about guitar playing and technology has only increased.
While working for the Roland Corporation he was Roland’s only national Guitar clinician, holding Workshops and Clinics right throughout Australia in Music Stores and Trade shows, demonstrating the latest technology on offer for guitar players, musicians and recording engineers. He travelled to Japan where he spent some time with the company’s Research and Development team.
He is a session musician and studio recording engineer, and has worked live his entire guitar playing life. His musical prowess ranges from Blues, R&B, Funk, Country, Rock, Metal, Soul, Pop, Fusion and Jazz, playing each with equal enthusiasm and dexterity.
The list of artists he has worked with is too many to mention, but here is a short list of some of the few: Stylus (Australia’s white soul band who had many hits in the 70s), George Benson, Lee Ritenour, Ike & Tina Turner, Average White Band, Tina Arena, Kool and the Gang, Boz Scaggs, Errol Brown, Thelma Houston, Russell Morris, Ross Wilson, Daryl Braithwaite, Vanessa Amorosi, The 5th Dimension, Renee Geyer, John Farnham and Tommy Emmanuel.
Ron is currently producing an album for Colin Crosby (which was nominated for an Aria award) and has just finished a new album for bassist Wayne Jones (which is doing well on the American smooth jazz charts) and also singer songwriter Kevin Walton. Ron has recorded a new studio album with his band Stylus which has been released in Japan.
Ron also coached the Weekend Warriors, allowing people who have never been in a band, or haven’t been in one for a long time, to do so and experience the thrill of being a part of a band. Ron enjoys passing on his experience and expertise.
